Celebrating the Transformation of our Library

Haileybury was delighted to welcome supporters to the Master’s Appeal Thank You Reception on Saturday 10 January 2026, celebrating the completion of the School’s newly refurbished Library.

Held in the transformed space itself, the reception provided an opportunity to thank donors and supporters whose generosity made the project possible, to unveil the supporter board, and to explore the Library’s renewed facilities. The refurbishment marks a significant investment in a space at the heart of academic life at Haileybury, designed to inspire curiosity, reflection and a love of learning for generations to come.

Guests were also treated to a thought-provoking address from Haileybury alumna Tara Button (Alban’s, 2000), founder of sustainability platform BuyMeOnce and author of A Life Less Throwaway. Drawing on her own experiences as a pupil, Tara reflected on the formative role the Library played in shaping her journey as a writer, entrepreneur and advocate for the circular economy.

“Libraries are dangerous places, because if you let your curiosity lead you, you might just discover who you really are.”

Her reflections on sustainability, mindful choice and the importance of human stories resonated strongly with guests, underlining the Library’s role not only as a repository of knowledge, but as a space for courage, creativity and transformation.

Haileybury is enormously grateful to all who supported the Master’s Appeal and helped make this landmark project a reality.
