The Richard Haslam MUN Memorial Fund

The Richard Haslam MUN Memorial Fund honours the life and legacy of Richard Haslam, a dedicated Haileyburian and long-serving Rapporteur for Haileybury Model United Nations. Over more than a decade, Richard was a key member of the Approvals Panel, where his sharp mind and generous spirit guided countless delegates through over a thousand resolutions.

Following his passing in August 2023, the fund was established in his memory to reflect Richard’s enduring commitment to inclusion and opportunity within MUN. Together with a gift from his siblings, Richard generously directed support towards helping Haileyburians who may face financial barriers to participating in MUN conferences.

The opening of this memorial fund invites Old Haileyburians and friends to continue Richard’s legacy – ensuring that all pupils who share his passion for global debate and diplomacy can take part, regardless of circumstance.

The Difference Your Gift Could Make

Every contribution to The Richard Haslam MUN Memorial Fund plays a part in opening doors for pupils. When gifts come together, they can make a transformative difference.

  • 6 gifts of £50 could support a pupil to attend Wycombe Abbey Model United Nations, providing an ideal first residential conference experience and introducing younger pupils to the skills of debate and diplomacy.
  • 8 gifts of £100 could support a pupil to attend St Andrews International Model United Nations in Dublin, enabling them to participate in four days of international debate alongside students from across Europe and North America.
  • 5 gifts of £250 could sponsor a pupil to attend The Hague International Model United Nations, one of the most prestigious conferences in the world, where pupils engage with the international community while developing advanced negotiation and leadership skills.

These experiences allow pupils to develop confidence, global awareness and lifelong friendships while representing Haileybury on the international stage.
