We are delighted to share that plans to refurbish the School’s historic Rackets Court are now moving forward, thanks to the generous support of members of the Haileybury community.
Rackets is one of Haileybury’s proudest sporting traditions. For generations, pupils have stepped into the court to train, compete and grow in confidence, discipline and teamwork. The space has also welcomed countless Old Haileyburians, families and friends who gather in the galleries to watch remarkable matches unfold.
Thanks to philanthropic support, the School has now begun developing detailed refurbishment plans in collaboration with architects and the Haileybury Estates team. These plans will enhance the facilities surrounding the court while preserving the character of this historic sporting venue.

Supporting a Historic Sporting Tradition
The refurbishment project aims to revitalise key areas of the building, including the entrance, viewing gallery and communal spaces, ensuring that the court continues to inspire future generations of Haileyburians.
The improvements will include:
Together, these improvements will create a welcoming hub for pupils, players and visitors while protecting the heritage of one of the few rackets courts of its kind in the country.

A Project Made Possible by Community Support
Philanthropic support from the Haileybury community is playing a vital role in bringing the project to life. The School will also contribute resources and the expertise of our Estates team. We are extremely grateful to the donors who have come together to support this project. Their generosity is helping ensure that this unique sporting tradition continues to thrive at Haileybury.
Work Scheduled for Summer Term 2026
The refurbishment is scheduled to commence during the Summer Term 2026, allowing work to be completed efficiently while minimising disruption to School activities. Once complete, the renewed Rackets Court will provide an improved experience for both players and spectators, strengthening the role the sport plays within the life of the School. To celebrate the completion of the project, supporters will be invited to a special reopening event in the 2026 Autumn Term, marking an exciting new chapter for Rackets at Haileybury.

Supporting the Future of Rackets
There are still opportunities for members of the Haileybury community to play a part in preserving this distinctive element of Haileybury’s sporting heritage. Every contribution helps ensure that future pupils will continue to discover the skill, dedication and camaraderie that have long defined Rackets at Haileybury.
