Thank you to everyone who joined us for the 60 Years of the Art School exhibition, it was a truly special evening bringing together the Haileybury community to celebrate creativity in all its forms.
Guests were welcomed with drinks and canapés before moving through to the classroom exhibition. Showcasing more than 150 pieces, the display brought together work by pupils, staff and alumni. Alongside GCSE and A-level pieces from current pupils were professional works by former pupils, illustrating the artistic journey beyond Haileybury. Together, the collection highlighted both the School’s rich creative heritage and the continued strength of art today.
Head of Art, Darren Glyde, spoke to a full room, thanking guests for their support and emphasising the vital role creativity plays within schools. His words were a fitting reminder of the importance of nurturing artistic expression across generations.
A highlight of the evening was the unveiling of a newly commissioned portrait of Clement Attlee by Artist in Residence, James Robinson. This striking piece will be housed permanently in the Archives and will form part of the Attlee exhibition, open on Speech Day and at future events.
We extend our congratulations to all those who contributed artwork, and our sincere thanks to the alumni Yo Hosoyamada (Melvill, 2015)Auguste Tardif (Trevelyan, 2020), Julia Ramsay (2001), Sophie Miller (Melvill, 2019), David Shaw (Kipling, 1961) and Maria Lintott (Alban’s & Melvill, 2000) and those who returned to be part of the celebration. It was a wonderful evening, and we are very grateful to all who attended for their continued support of the School and the arts.
