Our Connect Careers Webinar – Exploring Tech Careers: from coding to cybersecurity featured alumni James Battersby (Edmonstone, 2002) and Syukie Zhang (Colvin, 2016), who shared candid insights into building fulfilling, flexible careers in the technology sector. Both highlighted that “there’s no single right degree to study,” emphasising strong foundations in logic, communication and problem solving as key. They encouraged pupils and career changers alike to “start with your strengths, stay curious and keep learning,” exploring opportunities across areas such as software, fintech and product management. Their advice? Showcase your work, embrace failure, and shape your own path by solving real problems.
