Richard Brain receives Royal Academy of Music Associate Honours

We’re pleased to share that our Director of Music, Richard Brain, has been conferred with Associateship of the Royal Academy of Music (ARAM). This prestigious honour celebrates his significant contributions to the musical landscape.

Richard studied Choral Conducting as a postgraduate at the Academy from 2011–2013, and ARAM is reserved for alumni who have made a significant impact in their field. Each year the Royal Academy of Music recognises distinguished alumni across diverse fields, from soloists, orchestral musicians and conductors to composers, educators and artistic leaders. The 2025/2026 cohort highlights this remarkable breadth, alongside Honorary Associates who’ve long supported the Academy’s mission.

Reflecting on the award, Richard said: “I feel incredibly privileged to receive this honour from the Royal Academy. I remain immensely grateful for all the tuition and opportunities that I gained from my time at RAM. It is exciting to have received this recognition, but it gives me a moment to think back on all the amazing experiences and adventures I have had along the way with many incredible professional and amateur musicians.

Our warmest congratulations to Mr Brain on this fantastic achievement.
