Running for a Cause: Ella McAleer Takes on the Manchester Half Marathon

Join us in celebrating Ella McAleer (Colvin, 2023) as she prepares to take on the Manchester Half Marathon on 31 May in support of an incredibly meaningful cause.

Ella, who is currently completing her third year at the University of Manchester, is running to raise funds for Tumaini La Maisha (TLM), a remarkable charity providing life-saving cancer treatment to children in Tanzania who would otherwise have no access to care.

Having grown up in Tanzania, Ella had the opportunity to volunteer with TLM and witnessed first-hand the extraordinary impact of their work. Her connection to the cause is also deeply personal. Ella sadly lost her mother, Linda, to cancer at a young age and understands the profound effect the disease can have on families.

Motivated by both her experiences and her memories of her mother, Ella is passionate about supporting TLM’s mission to fight for some of the most vulnerable children and give them a chance at life.
